Disaster Medicine

Preparation.  Such is the wisest thing anyone could do for anything upcoming.  Kin to Prevention (which is one of the most neglected branches of Medicine today), preparation for the coming bad times is what many are doing today, all over.  It's not rocket science to see the need for this; it's only to deny reality to keep from it now.  Nothing is lost in "preparation" as well.  Your very survival may be at stake (in some commonly believed scenarios of today) if you fail to prepare for the coming more dire times ahead.  Why not just take a good hard look at what others are warning about, consider the validity of it all, and then make some simple preparations ahead of time?  It is time to consider the possibility that we may not have the conveniences in the future that are available to us now - and that a severe lack of conveniences might well mean at sometime in the future a lack of medical care services, among other things today being considered by so many involving this type of overall issue.

After a long period of relative denial and inactivity post Y2K (where this physician learned of a reality he'd rather not have to know about), it seems to have come down to a time when it is much more obvious the fact we all should get it in gear...and "prepare" now.  What for?  It is told by many of the need to get prepared for the obvious system disruptions that are just ahead on the horizon, esp. in the U.S.  Although the Y2K scare may have been a false start to this, the current climate of just about everything visible in our current world certainly tells me and many many others that now is the time we have to prepare for what is to come.  We don't have much time by some accounts, and the "disaster" coming may be extremely serious.  For the moment, this site will not get into all of these details - of "why" this is so - but will just expedite our position into "what we can do to help" at this late point in this possibly catastrophic mess some see ourselves in today. As told above, it never hurts to prepare for having to be more self-reliant.

Our focus is obviously in the medical field.  We are concerned about all other areas of life, as well, today though.  Our purpose here, therefore, will be to teach, train, supply (on a common sense basis) for a time when medical help may be very scarce or even unavailable to most people.  FYI: What conveniences we are used to in this country today - called "living in the bubble" or "the fantasy" by some (this being an all too obvious fact of life to some of us who have done foreign medical missions, by the way) - could become instantly non-existent (which could definitely happen under several different scenarios not too hard to imagine today) in a matter of days or weeks.  Such a situation would create for everyone here dire circumstances that are hard if not impossible to categorize specifically, ahead of time, but could be "life-threatening" to many now dependant on specific medical care - available so easily today, but conceveably absent in the future.  For this reason, we shall join in with the "disaster preparedness" folks that are growing in number all over this land of ours today; learning to become more prepared and self-sufficient certainly could never be criticized well by anyone, in reality (other than those who make it their jobs to criticize, complain on or "regulate" others).  Hint: Not everybody in this "preparedness" group, now growing quickly, could be "wrong".  We know many in this arena today who are highly intelligent, knowlegeable, equipped, and with skills they are making use of for what they firmly believe is the coming "disaster" just ahead for this unprepared country.  And I have to admit, after intense study on this topic, it appears to us this is more likely than not now, given the facts and figures available to us all to see and learn of this very issue.

Our plan is to provide the necessary help to those who wish to become more prepared - in the form of "information," guidance medically, some stored "medications" for the "trip" to come, quite possibly.  Such is common in the practice of "travel medicine" today, where those attempting to travel into other areas certainly need advanced planning medications and medical preparations, before they to; this is only different in that the "trip" may be right here and a very hard one...if something were to happen to today's present system.  So, as much as possible, it is prudent to "prepare".  Even the government is telling everybody to "prepare for disruptions" now...recommending you store food and water for serious problems ahead.
